ABOUT US -

Amy Starr-Perez

For the past 13 years, I have specialized in working with preschool-age children. I began my work at Yucaipa Christian  Preschool and worked full time while attending school and earning my Early Childhood units so I could transition from an Aide to a Teacher. After seven years there I accepted a position at Crafton Hills College Child Development Center.  I worked there for three years while continuing my education. In April 2005 I was married, and my husband and I moved to San Diego where I accepted a position at The Hanna Fenichel Center for Child Development.  I worked there until we moved back to our hometown of Yucaipa in January 2006. I then attended the required classes to obtain a home daycare license.
I received that in September of 2006

I currently have completed twenty-four units in Early Childhood Education, have attended many seminars and training sessions, and have worked countless hours with children ages eighteen months through six years old. My experiences over the years have taught me many things about children, the way they learn and interact with one another, and how they can flourish when given the proper environment. I know that children learn through their play.  My goal is to facilitate an environment where the children can explore and create.  The children’s interests and needs will lead us to what we will explore and learn about. I am committed to your child's physical, spiritual and emotional well-being

Virginia Starr

For the past 13 years, I worked at Yucaipa Christian Preschool.  My first three years involved being an assistant for a Pre- Kindergarten class while taking classes at Crafton Hills College and earning 21 Early Childhood units. During my years of teaching, I attended 2 conferences per year to expand my knowledge. I am a Mother of five and a Grandmother of eighteen. I enjoy children and spending time with them. I am thankful I can be a part of their lives and watch them learn, grow and excel.
As a teacher, I feel it is important to be a facilitator by helping the children make sense of their environment rather than just giving them things to memorize.

Following are some of my promises to you and your child as their teacher.

I promise to…

  1. Provide a safe and secure environment for their learning.

  2. Provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum to meet the needs of the whole child (spiritual, social, physical, emotional and cognitive).

  3. Treat your child as an individual.

  4. Show your child respect.

  5. Be positive in my directions and re-directions.

  6. Allow free choices when appropriate.

  7. Encourage self-expression and independence within boundaries.

  8. Encourage positive feelings about self and family.

  9. Focus on your child’s strengths not their weakness.

  10. Help your child learn to deal with conflicts.

  11. Offer a variety of experiences, materials and equipment to expand your child’s abilities in the use of their small and large motor skills.

  12. Keep you, the parent, informed of our class activities and be available to you realizing you are your child’s first and foremost teacher.
